Cleaning and Care of Tackable Surfaces
Forbo Colored Cork Board
Clean with a mild soap and water solution to retain its original appearance and freshness. If stronger cleaning is required, the use of a pH neutral cleanser is recommended. Rinse with clean water, then dry with an absorbent cloth. Examine dried area and repeat if necessary.
Natural Cork Board
A mild soap and water solution is recommended for normal cleaning. If a more thorough cleaning is required the use of a pH neutral cleanser is recommended. Rinse with clean water, then dry with an absorbent cloth. Examine dried area and repeat if necessary.
Vinyl Cork Board and Tack Board
Stains should be removed as quickly as possible to eliminate any possible reaction between the staining agent and the vinyl. Excess soiling such as chewing gum, crayons, paint or nail polish should be carefully scraped off prior to other cleaning steps. Normal cleaning of Vinyl Cork Board and Tack Board should be done with a mild soap and water solution. If stronger cleaning is required the use of a liquid household cleaner is recommended. Rinse with clean water, then dry with an absorbent cloth. Examine dried area and repeat if necessary.
Fabric Cork Board and Tack Board
Stains should be removed as quickly as possible to eliminate any possible reaction between the staining agent and the fabric. To prevent overall soiling, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and dirt is recommended. Sponge clean dirt spots with a mild detergent or upholstery cleaner. Using a blotting technique, without rubbing, should sufficiently remove most spots. Rinse well with a clean sponge to remove any excess cleaning solution. A professional furniture cleaning service is recommended for excessive soiling.
How to Maintain a
Porcelain Chalk Board or Marker Board
Daily Care and Maintenance
The same procedure is used to clean both Chalk Boards and Marker Boards.
For the initial cleaning, wipe your board with a clean cloth moistened by a liquid cleanser.
Rinse with clear water. This step is simple but very important.
Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
If your board is used daily, the cleaning should be performed at least 2 to 3 times a week. More thorough cleaning may be required if writing is left on the board for more than 2 days.
Removing Crayon and Tape
The same procedure is used to remove both crayon and tape.
- Dampen a clean, dry cloth with water.
- Sprinkle a small amount of powdered cleanser, such as Bar Keeper's Friend, onto the cloth. Use less cleanser for chalkboard surfaces. We recommend using Bar Keeper's Friend, but if you are unable to locate this product please call our Dealer Direct Center at 1-866-My-Board.
- Begin cleaning a small, manageable area using a back and forth horizontal motion. Use normal pressure as if you were cleaning a window.
- Wipe off all residue with a dry cloth.
- Rinse well with clear water. Please note that the rinsing and drying steps are very important.
- Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
- Follow the same procedure for the remainder of the board.
Removing Permanent Marker
Moisten a clean, dry cloth with isopropyl alcohol. Use less alcohol for chalk boards.
Wipe the board in a circular motion to loosen marker residue.
Rinse with clear water.
Dry the board with a clean cloth.
Repeat these steps as often as necessary to remove all residue.
Surface Scratch Test
You may perform this simple scratch test to see if your board is made of Ceramicsteel:
Using a sharp object such as a key, scratch a small, hidden area of your board.
If your board did not scratch, congratulations, you have a Ceramicsteel board. A painted surface board is easily damaged, but a Ceramicsteel board resists scratching.
Aywon Chalk Boards and Marker Boards (except the Value line) use Ceramicsteel and are warranted to last a lifetime
by PolyVision, the manufacturer of the surface material.
|
PolyVision Corporation is the only company that warrants specific visual communication products and surfaces for as
long as they are installed and in use, or forever, whichever occurs first. This warranty is unconditional under
normal usage. If the surface fails, Polyvision agrees to repair or replace the ceramicsteel writing surface, no
questions asked.
