This is a family business with American owners. Pat Donohue is responsible for managing the business on a day-to-day business. Scott Donohue, Pat's son, is responsible for sales and customer service. Jennifer Donohue, Pat's wife, is involved in office operations.
"Almost family" are long-term employees Jim Cusate, the company Technical Services Manager, and Production Manager Wally Rinkus who have been with the company since 1986. This "family attitude", plus performance-based incentive pay, has built a group of long-term well-trained production employees who care about quality and "doing it right the first time". More than 50% of the production employees have been with the company for at least five years. Aywon's reputation for innovative design and consistent quality  has made it the New York City School's primary supplier of chalk boards, marker boards and allied products.
The company's Hazleton, Pennsylvania manufacturing operations are located in a historic 1896 silk factory. The building was on Hitler's "hit list" because of its importance in making parachutes for World War Two soldiers.
